What the comparison includes
Petfair matches the exact normalised medicine variant and pack quantity, then uses the approved direct pack prices from in-stock retailers. Offers remain in neutral alphabetical order while delivery is unknown. Your orders, authorised repeats and paid prescription fees are counted separately.
Each quantity shown is one whole retailer pack. The calculator does not combine packs, price a partial pack or estimate a quantity that is not listed.
Retailer prices and availability can change. Always confirm the medicine, strength, formulation, quantity and final total with the retailer.
About prescriptions and delivery
A valid veterinary prescription is still required. Petfair's current retailer dataset does not include delivery charges. Enter the selected retailer's delivery charge when confirmed; otherwise it stays unknown and no money difference is shown.
Current guidance and requirements
RCVS guidance says an owner can request a written prescription and buy the prescribed medicine elsewhere; a vet may charge a reasonable prescription fee. Online suppliers of relevant veterinary medicine categories must be registered before supply.
Future CMA obligations
The CMA published final remedies in March 2026, including future prescription-information duties and fee caps. Its published timetable says the Order is due in September 2026, followed by staged compliance. Petfair does not describe those future duties as current law.
